On Jan. 10, 2008, new National Air Emission Standards for Gasoline Dispensing Facilities (GDFs) from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) went into effect. These new standards are designed to reduce and eliminate the hazardous air pollutants at GDFs. The new rules apply to all existing or new GDFs that have a monthly throughput of 100,000 gallons or more and are not already required by state or local authorities to have a Stage 1 vapor-balancing system.
