Challenge
Unified Brands, a leading manufacturer of foodservice equipment, reached out to DeanHouston+ for assistance with planning and implementing an exciting new approach to showcase its lines of commercial kitchen equipment at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago. The main goal of the request was to position Unified Brands as a technology innovator, and to address the space and budget constraints involved in the shipping and installation of Unified Brands products on the showroom floor.
Solution
DeanHouston+ recommended the development of an augmented reality app to encourage visitors to Unified Brands’ booth to engage with several of their top performing product lines like never before. The plan would give booth visitors and app users the opportunity to select a specific product and watch the equipment in operation through a smartphone or tablet. A zoom-in/rotate-the-product functionality was also proposed to allow for the inspection of equipment features in greater detail.
Results
Word spread quickly about this innovative solution among industry insiders and other large commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers who lined up at the trade show to try out the new app. The app impressed many for its convenience and the incredibly life-like detail featured in the visual equipment renderings. This resulted in app downloads and media hits positioning Unified Brands as a technology innovator. But the story doesn’t end there. Armed with augmented reality, Unified Brands continues to have the flexibility to add new products and features to keep the app fresh and up-to-date, improving the user experience for sales reps, distributors and end-users in the commercial foodservice industry.
